Selecta Wagagai Ltd is part of the Selecta Group. The Selecta Group is a leading global breeder, grower and marketer of innovative ornamental plants. Their breeding activities comprise bedding and balcony plants, house-plants, perennials and cut flowers. With their production sites and sales companies in Europe, Africa, Asia and America, they all relevant markets worldwide.
The Selecta Wagagai farm in Entebbe is one of the largest cuttings propagation farms in Africa. They mainly produce cuttings of begonias, chrysanthemums and poinsettias, but also many other varieties. The Selecta Wagagai has 40 hectares of green house and employs around 2.000 people. They are very well established in the region and operate an extensive social program based on the People, Planet Profit principles.
The role:
As Finance Manager you will lead the finance function and ensure compliance with local and international requirements. You will be responsible for all core finance activities including accounting, treasury, costing, budgeting, and financial reporting.
You will lead and mentor the Selecta Wagagai finance team and further implement best practices in modern finance management. Whilst directly reporting to the Managing Director, you also work closely with the group finance team.

Key responsibilities
- Lead all core finance activities including accounting, treasury, costing, budgeting, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with Ugandan tax laws, international standards, and company policies
- Manage annual and interim audits and all statutory requirements
- Serve as the main finance contact for banks, auditors, insurers, and regulators
- Strengthen internal controls and organize responsibilities within the finance team
- Advise the Managing Director on financial matters and key performance indicators
- Support the effective use of Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Oversee Procurement and Stores to ensure proper stock control, compliance, and cost-efficient purchasing
- Maintain clear processes and guide the team towards reliable, cooperative performance
Candidate profile
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration.
- Professional certification from a recognized accounting or finance body (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CMA)
- A strong background and multiple years of experience in international finance, accounting and tax practices.
- Experience in modern finance management, team leadership, and digital transformation
- Experience working in an international environment and proven track record of managing an international finance team.
- Experience in an agricultural production enviroment is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
