The Role
This is a high-impact distribution leadership role for a manager who can strengthen logistics performance, improve operational coordination, and ensure efficient product distribution across Uganda and selected export markets.
As Distribution Manager, you will oversee the full distribution operation, ensuring timely deliveries, cold-chain integrity, route optimization, inventory coordination, and high service levels across a fast-paced agrifood environment.
You will play a key role in improving logistics efficiency, supporting commercial growth, and ensuring products are distributed in a cost-effective and controlled manner across farms, warehouses, processing facilities, distributors, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily distribution operations for agrifood products across Uganda and selected export markets
- Ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries to shops, depots, wholesalers, retailers, distributors, hotels, restaurants, and institutional customers
- Oversee fleet utilization, transport planning, route optimization, and cold-chain integrity throughout the distribution process
- Coordinate product dispatches between farms, processing facilities, warehouses, distributors, and customers
- Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure inventory accuracy, stock rotation, and proper handling of perishable products
- Minimize product losses, spoilage, and distribution-related damages through effective operational control
- Manage relationships with third-party distributors and logistics providers while monitoring performance against KPIs and service standards
- Supervise distribution supervisors, drivers, warehouse coordinators, and logistics staff to ensure efficient manpower utilization and operational discipline
- Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, transport documentation, and operational hygiene requirements
- Track and report on KPIs including on-time delivery, fleet utilization, fuel consumption, stock losses, customer fulfillment, and distribution costs
Candidate Profile
- At least 5 years of management experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain within a fast-paced operational environment
- Experience in FMCG, food processing, cold-chain logistics, or agrifood environments is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of transport operations, inventory coordination, and distribution planning
- Proven ability to manage operational teams including supervisors, drivers, warehouse coordinators, and logistics staff
- Strong organizational and planning skills with a focus on cost control, operational efficiency, and service delivery
- Analytical, structured, and capable of managing multiple operational priorities under pressure
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and ERP or inventory systems is considered an advantage
