Yalelo Kenya is a leading business in fresh tilapia in Kenya. The company operates a retail network shops where they sell their fish. Yalelo Kenya is scaling up rapidly and to support this growth, they are looking to strengthen the finance team.
The Role
As Finance Manager, you will steer the finance function and be responsible for the general accounting function. You will ensure that business transactions are recorded accurately, completely, on time, and in line with company policy and IFRS.
You will be responsible for producing the company’s financial reports and fulfilling finance-related obligations such as tax and statutory reporting. You will report to the Finance Director and work closely with the Managing director in Kenya.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage monthly budgeting, P&L, and balance sheet reports
- Ensure accurate, complete, and timely recording of all business transactions in line with company policy and IFRS
- Manage tax and statutory reporting, including WHT, VAT, PAYE, Housing Levy, VAT files, and tax reconciliations · Provide financial support to the Managing Director of Yalelo Kenya.
- Maintain the general ledger, accruals, provisions, and overall completeness of financial transactions
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, supplier statements, accounts payable, bank accounts, and other finance accounts
- Oversee daily bank and Mpesa reconciliations and manage the company’s banking requirements
- Manage the full payments process, ensuring accurate documentation, proper approvals, and complete payment records
- Manage petty cash, employee claims, expense tracking, reimbursements, and related finance records
- Verify documentation, expenditures, disbursements, and revenue-to-cash reconciliations
- Analyse financial data, respond to finance inquiries, and prepare specialised financial reports based on account trends and data
- Follow internal controls to safeguard financial security and compliance
- Participate in and support the audit process
- Ensure strong record keeping, filing, and documentation discipline across the finance function
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5–8 years of accounting experience in managing inventory, fixed assets and/or stores, and financial analysis
- Professional qualification CPA or ACCA is mandatory
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communicator and natural diplomat, capable of liaising with internal and external stakeholders on a constant basis
- Clear sense of urgency and energy in achieving set goals
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently or as a team member
- Strong sense of personal integrity
